3 Insights From Cheryl Hotchkiss
1) Find a Mentor
A topic that is covered frequently on The Change Makers Podcast is mentorship. Both Ellen and Cheryl agree that finding a mentor and being a mentor are invaluable tools that you have to support your organization. Having someone who is able to come alongside you and share life experiences is important for everyone.
2) Know Your Worth
Cheryl shares that during this pandemic, she has been able to mentor many young women, and the one thing that she repeats over and over again is: “You are capable. You know what you’re doing.” It is easy to get caught up in a crisis, or even in day-to-day life, and start to feel inadequate. Cheryl shares that it is important to remember that you actually know what you are doing and to remember that when times are uncertain.
3) Give Yourself Room to Grow
During this pandemic, many leaders feel that they have made mistakes with their team or their organization, and Cheryl shares that it is important to both give yourself grace and ask from grace for others. These are extraordinary times and we are only human. It is important to acknowledge that mistakes will happen and to give yourself room to grow from these mistakes.
